BIO

Me, Andrew Stacey, I grew up in bayside Melbourne, Australia.

The unfolding discovery of a world beyond this metropolis sustains the interdependence of my art practice and wonder.

This practice involves painting, drawing, writing and interventions in the built and natural environments, and includes experience drawn from activity as artworker, designer, poet, builder, project manager and community worker.

I studied engineering, interior design and architecture in Melbourne and completed a design arts degree.

In partnership with Kim Stacey from 2002 I established a self-sufficient food forest cradled by bushland in South Gippsland Victoria.

In 2015 I commenced the reactivation of the historic Queens Head Hotel in the far-west outback township of Wilcannia NSW as a community arts facility to engage with aboriginal culture.

I live and work between these two sites and am currently investigating the amazing sonic inventiveness of the Grey shrike-thrush.
